The Rank Engine Story
I love telling stories… So I thought I’d share ours. It shouldn’t take long.
My name is Chase Bowers.
I started Rank Engine in 2009 while I was working at The University of Alabama as an Online Marketing Specialist. The initial mission of the Rank Engine aimed to assist businesses in ranking higher in the search engines such as Google, Bing, etc. Through 2011 I focused solely on SEO tactics such as On-Page optimization and Link Building and helped multiple websites in getting first page rankings. However, this seemed a little shallow to me. Let me explain.
In 2012, I left the UA to primarily consult with an Interactive Web Agency in Tuscaloosa, AL which I still work with today. Over the past few years, I noticed a glaring problem with businesses who were interested in SEO services…
They weren’t ready for it.
Here’s what I mean. Search Engine Optimization is designed to move you up the rankings so that more searches will find your site. This usually means that a site will get more traffic. Here’s the problem with more traffic. It doesn’t necessarily mean more sales or more leads. It could mean that you just invested a good bit of time, energy and money to have more people take a look at your site without your site being optimized to receive the traffic.
I began to expand the mission of Rank Engine. Instead of just focusing on moving sites higher up the rankings, I would focus on:
- strategic website design to provide an expected experience
- conversion optimization to increase leads and sales
- creating a marketing funnel for lead generation and follow up

Once your website is built, you’ll want to focus on getting visitors. You can do this through Search Engine Marketing, PPC, Content Marketing, Social Media, Banner Advertising, etc.
Turning Traffic into Sales
Once people are on your site, where do they go next? Do you have a path for them to follow? Do you have a way for them to request information about what they’re wanting? Can they join an email newsletter? Can they connect with you socially?
These services focus on setting up your site to convert visitors into customers.
